“Mother Raises Concerns After Daughter Injured by Burst Toy”

Date:

A mother claimed that her seven-year-old daughter suffered painful blisters after a “squishy” NeeDoh toy burst on her hands. The incident is part of a concerning trend where children are getting burned by microwaving toys to make them softer. However, the girl’s mother stated that the toy was not microwaved, and the injury occurred when the toy’s seal broke, leaking liquid onto her hand.

Following the incident, the girl’s hands developed blisters, prompting her mother to seek medical help. The child was taken to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford on June 22 and later received treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The girl is currently undergoing daily wound care appointments for her healing hands.

The mother recounted that her daughter, a fan of the NeeDoh toy, alerted her to the leaking liquid, leading to the unfortunate incident. Despite initial attempts to alleviate the pain by running the affected hand under cold water, the girl experienced increasing discomfort, prompting the mother to seek professional advice promptly.

Due to the lack of a burns unit in Telford, the girl had to be transferred to Birmingham for specialized treatment. The mother expressed her concern over the potential dangers of the toy, emphasizing the need for caution, especially with younger children. The exclusive UK distributor for NeeDoh, Bigjigs Toys, acknowledged the incident and assured a thorough investigation to determine the authenticity of the product involved.

As the girl continues her recovery process, her mother remains vigilant about toy safety and intends to take extra precautions in handling similar toys in the future.
