Catherine Harding, the girl’s mother, disclosed her perspective on the situation where her daughter was reprimanded by a security guard for glancing at Chappell Roan during breakfast at a hotel in São Paulo.
Harding clarified that the security guard in question was not affiliated with the hotel but appeared to be associated with Chappell Roan. She expressed uncertainty regarding whether he was the singer’s personal security detail, emphasizing the importance of celebrities ensuring that individuals representing them act responsibly on their behalf.
The incident occurred when Harding and her daughter noticed someone resembling Chappell Roan at breakfast. The daughter innocently went to take a closer look, without attempting to take photos or disturb the singer. Subsequently, a security guard approached their table in an aggressive manner, criticizing them for allegedly intruding on the artist’s privacy.
Harding defended her daughter’s actions, explaining to the security guard that the girl was simply excited to see a singer she admired and meant no harm. She highlighted that they were paying guests at the hotel and had the right to observe others in a public area without causing any disturbance.
The family had traveled to Sao Paulo to attend Chappell Roan’s show as a birthday gift for the daughter, although they missed the performance due to the incident. Harding concluded by expressing hope that if Chappell Roan was not directly involved, she would take measures to prevent her staff from mistreating others in the future.
