“Multiple-Vehicle Collision Halts M11 Traffic”

An extensive “multiple-vehicle collision” caused turmoil on the motorway this evening, leading to a complete halt in traffic flow.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:45 pm on the M11 near Harlow, Essex, resulting in significant traffic disruptions.

National Highways reported that the southbound lanes of the main motorway between junctions 8 and 7A were temporarily closed due to the crash.

A representative from National Highways East provided details to the Mirror regarding the collision. They stated, “This was a collision involving two vehicles, resulting in oil spillage, and lanes two and three are currently closed for cleanup. Minor injuries have been reported.”

The spokesperson continued, “The cleanup timeframe is undetermined at this point. For updates, please monitor @highwayseast on X.”

According to the East of England Ambulance Services spokesperson, two individuals were transported to the hospital following the M11 crash.

They mentioned, “Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle responded to a report of a traffic collision on the M11 near junction 7 this afternoon.

“Two patients were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.”

Reportedly, Essex Police did not attend the crash scene, with the Highways agency personnel handling the road clearance. The Mirror has reached out to the agency for a statement.

The most recent update from National Highways indicates:

Severe congestion is affecting the M11 southbound between junctions J10 and J7A, causing delays of approximately 50 minutes compared to regular traffic times.

Normal traffic conditions are anticipated to resume between 17:15 and 17:30.
