Newly released video footage captures the murderer of Henry Nowak telling police that he was bleeding before they discovered he had been fatally stabbed, taking eight minutes to find him.
In the footage, Vickrum Digwa falsely accuses Henry of racially motivated aggression in Southampton. Digwa, a 23-year-old Sikh, claims Henry sustained his bloody wounds from a “punch” or falling over while climbing on bins.
The assailant asserts that Henry, allegedly drunk, attacked him and removed his turban. Interestingly, Digwa remained uncuffed during his arrest for attempted murder, while Henry had been restrained by the same officers moments earlier.
Digwa received a 23-year prison sentence for murder and weapon possession at Southampton Crown Court last month, inciting violent protests in the city. The murder occurred last December as Henry was returning from a university night out.
In the video, Digwa’s father, Moga Singh, informs the police that his son was assaulted by Henry. Digwa claims that Henry pulled his turban off and grabbed his hair, leading to a physical altercation.
When questioned about Henry’s wound, Digwa suggests it was from a punch and a fall onto a car. He later expresses confusion and resistance to his arrest for attempted murder.
During the trial, it was revealed that Digwa, a weapons enthusiast, possessed an “arsenal” of weapons at his family home. The arrest and subsequent events sparked violent protests in Southampton, where Henry attended university.
Hampshire Constabulary is currently facing an IOPC investigation regarding the arrest.
