A tragic incident in Colombia claimed the lives of six individuals, including popular singer Yeison Jimenez and his band members, as their plane crashed and caught fire. The group was en route to a scheduled concert that evening when the light aircraft went down shortly after departing from Paipa Airport in Colombia’s Tundama Province, failing to gain altitude.
Distressing video footage captured bystanders shouting warnings as the plane ran out of runway, ultimately crashing in flames at the end of the airstrip. The victims included the pilot, co-pilot, and four passengers, among them the 34-year-old musician Yeison Jimenez, known for his performances worldwide. Jimenez had shared a poignant message on Instagram before boarding, emphasizing humility and acknowledging the transient nature of life.
Photographer Weisman Mora, who documented their final moments onboard, was also among the casualties. The fatal crash occurred around 4 pm local time as the aircraft headed towards Medellin, where Jimenez was scheduled to perform near Marinilla. The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the tragic outcome, expressing condolences for the loss of all six occupants, including the renowned artist.
Yeison Jimenez, a singer-songwriter with a lifelong passion for music, had previously confided in an interview about recurring dreams of an aviation accident, adding a chilling layer to the tragedy. The other victims identified in the crash, aside from Jimenez and his photographer, were pilot Hernando Torres, Juan Manuel Rodriguez, Oscar Marin, and Jefferson Osorio. The plane was reportedly associated with Jimenez’s company, YJ Company SAS.
In the wake of the devastating event, Jimenez’s daughter, Camila, expressed her grief on social media, lamenting her father’s absence.
