Police are currently investigating the death of an unidentified man found on the premises of Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton. The man, identified as Neil Thompson or Chuck, was discovered on January 19 after being seen riding an e-bike on Wheatsheaf Road in the early hours of the same day.
The 45-year-old man was found with injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities suspect he had been riding the e-bike from the Aldersley area along the Smestow Canal path on the outskirts of the city. The man was last seen wearing a distinctive camouflage jacket, a grey gilet, jeans, a beanie hat, carrying a red rucksack, and possibly donning sunglasses.
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport stated that the investigation into Mr. Thompson’s death is ongoing and is being treated as unexplained. The police are conducting extensive inquiries to provide answers to the family. The focus is on locating the e-bike he was riding before his death, believed to be a Carrera Crossfire E Men’s Electric Hybrid Bike 2.0 – L Frame.
Despite thorough searches and a significant CCTV review, the whereabouts of the e-bike remain unknown. Authorities are urging anyone who may have come across the bike to come forward with information. The family of Mr. Thompson described him as a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, known for his passion for fishing and his vibrant personality.
