Nigel Farage was gifted ringside tickets valued at over £1,200 to attend the boxing match between Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder, as revealed by the Mirror. The tickets, along with more than £500 in refreshments for his family, were provided by Avi Lasarow, a close associate of Errol Musk, father of Elon Musk.
This is just the latest in a series of perks received by Farage, known as “Nine Jobs Nigel” for his various lucrative ventures outside of his role as an MP. In addition to Grand Prix tickets in Abu Dhabi and international flights, Farage has also received designer gifts, despite previously criticizing Prime Minister Keir Starmer for accepting similar presents.
Farage and Chisora made a grand entrance to a press conference in London, riding a tank over Tower Bridge before the event at York Hall. Subsequently, Farage was treated to tickets for the Chisora vs. Wilder fight at the O2 Arena, where Wilder claimed victory in a closely contested match.
Critics from the Labour Party have labeled Farage a hypocrite for his acceptance of such gifts, accusing him of prioritizing personal gain over public service. The tickets were disclosed in the Register of Interests, showing Lasarow as the donor, who is recognized as an entrepreneur and the Honorary Consul of South Africa to the UK.
Lasarow, the founder of DNAFit and former EMEA CEO of Prenetics, has also provided VIP tickets to Suella Braverman, a former member of the Conservative Party who joined Reform UK. Braverman, along with her husband, enjoyed the match alongside Farage, but made no mention of the complimentary tickets on social media.
Farage’s affinity for boxing and his friendship with Chisora have been ongoing for nearly a decade, with Farage praising Chisora’s outspoken support for Brexit. The revelation of Farage’s acceptance of a £5 million gift from Christopher Harborne before becoming an MP has sparked controversy, with accusations of breaching parliamentary rules by not declaring the gift.
Both Labour and the Conservatives have criticized Farage for failing to disclose the significant donation, highlighting the ongoing scrutiny surrounding political financing and transparency. Lasarow and Reform UK have been approached for comments on the matter.
