Nine individuals were hospitalized following an incident at a primary school in Nottinghamshire, prompting a swift response from emergency services. The event unfolded at Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford, with police cars and ambulances rushing to the scene after a distress call was received at approximately 2.17pm on Wednesday. The exact nature of the situation remains unclear.
Initially, reports suggested that only two students had been taken to the hospital, but the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) later confirmed that a total of nine patients were transported to the Queen’s Medical Centre. A spokesperson from EMAS stated that they received a report of a medical emergency, leading to the deployment of various medical resources including paramedics, ambulance crews, and a hazardous area response team. Additionally, an air ambulance responder was present during the incident.
Councillor Jonathan Wheeler, representing West Bridgford South at the county council, mentioned that concerned residents had reached out to him upon observing a significant number of ambulances outside the school. He confirmed that a couple of students had been taken to the hospital for precautionary assessments, reassuring that parents had been informed while respecting their privacy. Wheeler shared this update with the public following discussions with the school administration.
Social media users expressed surprise at the substantial emergency service presence at the school, with eyewitnesses noting the arrival and departure of multiple ambulances and police cars. Nottinghamshire Police assured that the incident was not of a criminal nature and stated that their officers were present at the scene in a supportive capacity.
