“Northern Ireland Man Sentenced to Life for Sister’s Murder”

Date:

A man from Tresna Park in Randalstown, Northern Ireland, has been sentenced to life in prison for a horrific attack on his sister that resulted in her death. Kornelijus Bracas, 37, was given a minimum term of 24 years before being eligible for parole by Judge Madam Justice McBride at Belfast Crown Court.

The brutal incident involved Bracas stabbing his sister in the neck and then setting her on fire in her home, leading to her tragic death. The victim, Alesia Nazarova, was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 12-year-old daughter was hospitalized for treatment.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge McBride condemned Bracas as one of the most ruthless and cold-hearted murderers she had encountered. She highlighted his lack of remorse and described his actions as displaying extreme violence and a complete disregard for human life.

The grim details of the murder were revealed during a previous court hearing, where it was disclosed that Nazarova had been stabbed multiple times before being set on fire. The post-mortem examination indicated that she was still alive when the fire was started, suffering severe burns and stab wounds.

Bracas admitted to the crime during police interviews, recounting how he attacked his sister after an argument escalated. He confessed to strangling her, slitting her throat with a kitchen knife, and then setting her on fire. Additionally, he confessed to starting a fire outside his niece’s bedroom.

Prior to this incident, Bracas had a history of violent behavior, including assaulting his parents and even strangling his mother’s cat. The court heard that he harbored resentment towards his sister, feeling unappreciated and mistreated, which he claimed led to the tragic events that unfolded.

This disturbing case sheds light on the tragic consequences of domestic violence and the devastating impact it can have on families. The sentencing serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing and preventing such acts of violence within communities.
