A passenger on a Ryanair flight had a terrifying experience when a window broke mid-air, causing him to be partially sucked out at 20,000ft. Ljubisa Karovic, 61, was on a flight from Thessaloniki in Greece to Memmingen near Munich, Germany, on July 10 when the incident occurred. His wife, Svetlana Grković, had to pull him back into the plane as he repeatedly lost consciousness during the emergency.
Ljubisa, a Serbian businessman, suffered injuries and has been wearing a neck brace for at least six weeks. He expressed disappointment that Ryanair has not directly contacted him following the incident, despite the global attention it received. Instead, communication has been through emails to his son, who booked their flights, asking about rebooking and his well-being.
Svetlana criticized the cabin crew for not taking immediate action during the incident, stating they appeared scared while passengers tried to prevent Ljubisa from being sucked out of the plane. Medical personnel met the aircraft upon its emergency landing back in Thessaloniki, where Ljubisa was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Witnesses described a loud bang before the window shattered. Ryanair has been contacted for a comment on the incident. The airline’s group chief financial officer, Neil Sorahan, praised the crew for their handling of the situation, ensuring a safe return to Thessaloniki for all passengers.
