“Portsmouth Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Mother of Three”

A man, identified as Charlie James Jeans, aged 31, has admitted to the killing of a 32-year-old mother of three whose body was discovered in her residence in Portsmouth. The victim, Samantha Murphy, was found deceased at her home on Wadham Road on June 5, 2025, prompting a police investigation following reports of a body on the premises.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary initiated a murder inquiry and subsequently apprehended two individuals on suspicion of the crime. Jeans, residing on Margate Road in Southsea, changed his plea to guilty during the fifth day of his trial, confessing to the murder of Samantha.

He is now in custody awaiting his sentencing scheduled for June 17 at Portsmouth Crown Court. Following the tragic event, one of Samantha’s sisters issued a heartfelt tribute on behalf of their family and friends, highlighting Samantha’s vibrant personality and the impact she had on those around her.

The tribute described Samantha as a loving mother, a source of joy and laughter to her siblings, and a compassionate friend always willing to lend an ear. It also celebrated her love for music, dancing, and her infectious spirit that brought happiness to everyone she encountered.
