There have been calls from UK politicians and citizens to cancel King Charles’s visit because of the ongoing war. While Buckingham Palace has not confirmed the trip officially, Trump revealed during a press briefing that the King would be traveling to the US in the near future.
President Trump mentioned the visit while highlighting the construction of a new presidential ballroom in the White House’s East Wing, set to be completed by summer 2028. The new ballroom will provide a more suitable venue for hosting world leaders, according to Trump.
Trump emphasized his belief that the White House is currently only suitable for outdoor events, citing the swampy wetland on which Washington, D.C. was built. He also mentioned the challenges of hosting foreign dignitaries during rainy weather.
King Charles was expected to visit the US in late April for a three-day trip, resembling Trump’s previous visit to the UK. The visit details were disclosed by a source to The Times at the end of the previous month.
