The couple tied the knot in a small ceremony in Windsor on July 17, 2020, amidst Covid social distancing rules. The event was attended by close family members and friends, including the late Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Eugenie, and Beatrice’s parents. Edo’s four-year-old son acted as the best man.
Despite having to alter their original wedding plans due to the pandemic, Beatrice and Edo still managed to have a rehearsal dinner with their loved ones. One notable departure from tradition was the couple choosing to spend the night together before exchanging vows, a departure from the custom of couples spending the night apart.
While most royals adhere to the tradition of spending the night before their wedding apart from their partner, Beatrice and Edo opted to spend the evening together. Princess Kate, for example, spent the night before her wedding at the Goring Hotel in London with her mother and sister, while Prince William stayed at Clarence House with Prince Harry, Prince Charles, and Camilla.
In a similar fashion, Meghan Markle stayed at Cliveden House Hotel with her mother before her wedding, while Prince Harry and Prince William stayed at Coworth Park in Ascot. Following their wedding, Beatrice and Edo shared two photos, delaying their release to avoid overshadowing Captain Tom Moore, who was knighted by the Queen on the same day.
Beatrice wore a vintage dress loaned from The Queen, designed by Norman Hartnell. She also wore the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, a piece borrowed from Her Majesty that the Queen herself wore on her wedding day.
