Princess Kate Supports Cancer Survivor in Manchester

Date:

Princess Kate visited Manchester to show support for a woman celebrating the completion of her challenging cancer treatment. In a gesture of solidarity, the Princess of Wales visited the Christie NHS Foundation Trust to emphasize the importance of holistic care in cancer treatment. During her visit, Kate met Claire Lorente, a 30-year-old woman marking the end of her battle with breast cancer treatment.

Kate warmly embraced Claire, commending her journey and expressing her understanding of the challenges faced. She then shared her own experience with cancer treatment in 2024, highlighting the impact on her family. The princess also took a moment to acknowledge Claire’s partner, recognizing the difficulties faced by loved ones during such times.

As Claire joyfully rang the bell signifying the end of her treatments, Kate applauded and encouraged her, acknowledging the significance of the moment. Dressed in a blue attire with bee motif earrings representing Manchester, Kate engaged with patients receiving therapy and learned about the center’s comprehensive approach to physical and emotional well-being.

Furthermore, Kate interacted with patients undergoing treatment, explored the therapeutic benefits of creative expression in the art room, and discovered the healing aspects of the wellbeing garden with gardener Phil Walker. She also visited the Christie’s Teenage and Young Adult unit to learn about the specialized support activities for young individuals.

Established in 1892, the Christie is renowned for its holistic therapies that provide relief from common symptoms associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment. Kate’s visit follows her recent attendance at a Cancer Research UK event at St James’ Palace, where she and other royals celebrated the charity’s vital work in cancer prevention and treatment.

Having faced her own battle with cancer, Kate has been open about her journey, emphasizing the emotional challenges and moments of strength encountered. Since announcing her remission, she has gradually resumed her royal duties, including international engagements, demonstrating resilience and dedication to her responsibilities.
