Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken drastic security measures by relocating his two eldest daughters to his heavily guarded forest complex due to fears of assassination. The 73-year-old Kremlin leader is increasingly anxious about the lack of progress in the Ukraine conflict and the declining Russian economy.
Concerned about potential hacking threats, Putin has ordered urgent assessments of Russia’s surveillance system to prevent any breaches that could compromise his whereabouts at the Valdai Palace, his high-security residence in the Novgorod region where he resides with his partner Alina Kabaeva and her two sons.
Despite facing challenges from Ukraine’s deep-strike drones, Putin has bolstered security with armed guards and anti-missile systems. His vulnerability was exposed when Ukraine launched a long-range drone attack on St Petersburg during a trade forum, prompting him to avoid direct meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Following the assassination of the Iranian Ayatollah Khemenei through a surveillance hack, Putin fears a similar attack targeting him. Despite calls for a ceasefire and talks with Ukraine, he remains defiant, leading to heightened security measures.
Reports indicate that Putin’s daughters Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, along with their children, have been relocated to the Valdai palace for enhanced safety. The secure complex, located 230 miles northwest of Moscow, includes a state-of-the-art bunker.
While Maria Vorontsova is a married multi-millionaire, Katerina Tikhonova is a wealthy mother-of-one. Their mother, Lyudmila Putina, Putin’s ex-wife, is not directly involved in their current living arrangements. The ongoing war in Ukraine and economic challenges have placed immense pressure on Putin’s leadership, prompting the need for heightened security measures.
