“Red Arrows and Blue Angels Soar Together in US Tour”

Date:

The Red Arrows recently showcased their aerobatic skills in a joint performance with the Blue Angels in the United States. The Royal Air Force team flew alongside the US Air Force’s Blue Angels over Boston, Massachusetts, and participated in a multi-formation flypast above Brunswick, Maine.

This display was part of the Red Arrows’ month-long tour of the United States to commemorate 250 years of American independence. The team’s tour included appearances in various states such as Wisconsin, Maine, Maryland, and Michigan. The RAF aerobatic team also participated in a major international flypast over New York earlier in the month to celebrate America’s Independence Day.

The tour, known as Operation Eagle Hawk, involved displays and flypasts across several US states. The Red Arrows’ visit was part of a broader contribution by the UK Armed Forces to the anniversary celebrations, alongside other military units.

Air Vice-Marshal Mark Jackson, Air Officer Commanding No. 1 Group, expressed gratitude for the invitation from the US military to participate in the Fourth of July events. He highlighted the longstanding partnership between the UK and US armed forces and expected the Red Arrows’ performance to captivate the audiences.

During the Fourth of July celebrations, the Red Arrows, with their signature red, white, and blue smoke, flew over New York’s iconic landmarks. Wing Cdr Jon Bond, leading the formation, described it as a significant honor to mark the American independence anniversary in such a manner.

The journey of the Red Arrows to the US was meticulously planned, with the Hawk T1 jets making several stops for refueling due to their limited range. The team was accompanied by support aircraft carrying engineers, equipment, and spare parts to ensure smooth operations during the tour.

Apart from their aerial displays, the Red Arrows engaged in ground events, interacting with various audiences to promote STEM education and inspire future aviation professionals. The team’s visit to the US was just one part of their busy 2026 schedule, with upcoming appearances across Europe planned.

The 2026 display season was one of the team’s busiest in recent years, combining domestic and international events following their successful tour of North America.
