Reform Deputy Tice Under Fire for Tax Controversy

Date:

Reform Deputy Richard Tice is facing severe credibility challenges following allegations that his companies neglected to pay nearly £100,000 in corporation tax, as per statements from the Labour Party. Party Chair Anna Turley has demanded an urgent explanation from Reform Chief Nigel Farage regarding why the wealthy Mr. Tice continues to hold the position of second-in-command within the party.

In response to these accusations, Mr. Tice, who also serves as the business spokesperson for the right-wing party, expressed willingness to rectify any discrepancies in payments and settle any outstanding amounts if necessary. The Sunday Times reported that Mr. Tice operated four shell companies that did not contribute any tax on profits from 2020 to 2022. These companies were allegedly established solely to receive dividends from Mr. Tice’s property investment firm and funnel the funds to their parent company.

During this period, Tisun Investments Ltd purportedly transferred £1,113,000 to Reform UK between March 2020 and May 2022. Despite the mounting criticism, Tory defector Robert Jenrick defended Mr. Tice, highlighting his extensive business career and contributions to job creation and tax revenue.

The Liberal Democrats have joined calls for HMRC to promptly investigate these claims, although Mr. Jenrick indicated that HMRC has not initiated any inquiries. In a statement, Mr. Tice emphasized his long and successful business history, stating that he always adhered to professional tax advice and fulfilled his tax obligations diligently.

He emphasized the importance of tax efficiency in business operations and indicated his readiness to address any potential discrepancies promptly. Mr. Tice criticized what he perceived as a targeted effort to tarnish his reputation, suggesting that such attacks deter successful business figures from entering politics, ultimately impacting the nation’s economic and social landscape.

Amid ongoing scrutiny, Mr. Tice reiterated his commitment to serving his constituents and campaigning in local elections, underscoring his dedication to national welfare over personal gain.
