Matt Goodwin faces accusations of hypocrisy for denouncing the establishment while jet-setting across the globe to address international elites. Following his declaration as Reform UK’s candidate for Gorton and Denton, Goodwin proudly distanced himself from the establishment, criticizing the elite class in over 30 articles on his Substack platform.
Despite his anti-establishment stance, Goodwin’s own website reveals his extensive interactions with numerous companies worldwide, showcasing a plethora of speaking engagements. These include engagements with financial giants such as the London Stock Exchange, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan Asset Management, and others, along with prestigious institutions like Harvard’s Center for European Studies and the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington D.C.
Recently, Goodwin was featured as the keynote speaker at the exclusive 3-day GRI Chairmen’s Retreat at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland, attended by top real estate leaders. Notably, the event, dubbed a secluded trove of elite insights, highlights the exclusivity and high-profile nature of the gathering.
While the cost for the 2026 event remains undisclosed, records from 2023 indicate a price tag of nearly €10,000, with an average nightly stay at the Swiss Hotel exceeding £1,500. Goodwin later expressed his satisfaction with the private conference for international real estate leaders on his LinkedIn profile.
Listed as a sought-after speaker by various agencies like A-Speakers and the London Speaker’s Bureau, Goodwin’s connections with global elites have garnered attention. In response, Labour MP Andrew Western criticized Goodwin’s actions, highlighting his involvement in elite circles despite claiming to champion the interests of ordinary citizens.
Contrary to Goodwin’s image, Labour’s local candidate Angeliki Stogia emphasizes support for working-class communities, focusing on practical assistance for families and public services. The contrasting approaches underscore the divergent priorities between the candidates.
In defense, a Reform spokesperson emphasized Goodwin’s efforts over two decades to engage with governmental and corporate entities worldwide, aiming to shed light on the disconnect between elites and the general populace.
