A prominent figure involved in Reform UK’s by-election campaign has been suspended by the party following allegations of using racist and sexist language on social media.
Adam Mitula, the interim campaign manager working on Matt Goodwin’s campaign in Gorton and Denton, was suspended by the party after reportedly making offensive remarks targeting black individuals and Jewish women online.
Mitula is said to have posted controversial comments on social media platform X, including expressing aversion towards Jewish women and suggesting that the Holocaust death toll was exaggerated. Additionally, he allegedly made derogatory remarks about transgender individuals.
After reports surfaced about Mitula’s comments, Labour deputy leader Lucy Powell urged Goodwin to distance himself from Mitula, emphasizing the need to denounce such hateful views and affirm that racism and conspiracy theories have no place in Reform UK.
Mitula acknowledged his suspension pending an investigation but claimed that the context of his social media remarks had been misconstrued. He defended his comments as supporting the Jewish community and criticized the source of the original article for allegedly spreading misinformation.
Goodwin, endorsed by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, is competing against Labour’s Angeliki Stogia and the Green Party in the upcoming election. Reform UK stated that their disciplinary proceedings are confidential and they do not provide ongoing updates on potential cases under review.
