“Royal Ascot Kicks Off with King & Queen’s Grand Carriage Procession”

Date:

King Charles and Queen Camilla commenced the Royal Ascot festivities with enthusiasm and the customary carriage procession, accompanied by the newest member of the Royal Family. The couple led the royal entourage in carriages on the first day of racing, with Camilla stunning in a blue dress adorned with floral details. Riding in the same carriage were their close friends, the Duke and Duchess of Wellington. Following in the second carriage were King’s sister Princess Anne and her son Peter Phillips, who recently got married to Harriet.

This event marked the couple’s first official appearance since their recent wedding in the Cotswolds, attended by senior members of the Royal Family. Harriet, now officially a Phillips, wore a baby blue outfit, while Anne was also present. Other royals, including the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, participated in the carriage procession.

Zara Tindall, the King’s niece, made an appearance at the event, wearing a lilac dress and a matching hat while accompanied by her husband, former England rugby player Mike. Zara was seen respectfully greeting the King with a kiss on the cheek, while Mike engaged in light-hearted banter with him.

In the royal box, Charles and Camilla cheered on the horses, joined by the Queen’s son, Tom Parker Bowles. Meanwhile, newlyweds Harriet and Peter enjoyed champagne, exuding happiness in each other’s company.

Notably absent were Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie on the first day of racing. The attendance of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s daughters at the ongoing race meeting remains uncertain due to the controversy surrounding their father.

Charles and Camilla extended warm wishes to attendees for an exhilarating week at Royal Ascot, emphasizing the event’s eco-friendly initiatives. They praised the caliber of horses and jockeys participating in the prestigious races.

The couple highlighted the installation of solar panels on the grandstand’s roof, underscoring the racecourse’s commitment to sustainability. They expressed optimism about their five horses competing in the event and their continued support for environmental causes.

Royal Ascot is not just a sporting event but also a social gathering where attendees showcase stylish attire, including eye-catching hats and formal wear. Charles and Camilla emphasized the significance of the event in the global bloodstock industry and the enduring impact of successful horses on future generations.

The royal couple’s passion for horse racing was evident as they recounted their first Royal Ascot win in 2023 and their excitement for the current meet. They expressed hope for a victorious performance from their horses entered in the competition.
