Russia has accused Britain of preparing to supply Ukraine with a nuclear bomb, as stated by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). The SVR claimed that Britain and France are actively collaborating to equip Ukraine with nuclear weapons while Germany has opted out of participation in this endeavor.
In a statement released on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the SVR’s press office mentioned that Britain and France want Ukraine to possess a “miracle weapon” to resist defeat. The term “miracle weapon” was coined during World War II by the Nazi propaganda ministry to boost morale in times of impending defeat.
In response to the allegations, a French Government account dismissed the claims, emphasizing Russia’s focus on French and British nuclear capabilities rather than the ongoing conflict.
The SVR further alleged that Britain and France have devised plans to arm Ukraine with a nuclear bomb due to their perceived inability to defeat Russia through Ukrainian armed forces. They are reportedly considering providing Ukraine with European equipment and technologies, including the French TN75 warhead used in submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
The SVR condemned these actions as a violation of international law and a threat to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. It suggested that Western countries may attempt to portray any Ukrainian acquisition of nuclear weapons as a domestic development to evade responsibility.
