The nationwide alert was sounded during late morning hours across Russia’s 11 time zones, instructing citizens not to panic but to promptly switch on their TVs or radios for emergency directives. The country’s emergencies ministry emphasized that the warning system aims to swiftly communicate signals to the public in case of any natural or man-made threats.
In the event of hearing a siren, individuals were advised to stay calm and tune in to any public TV channel or radio for critical updates.
In Yekaterinburg, a TV program was interrupted to broadcast an urgent message confirming that the public alert system was undergoing testing and urging citizens to remain composed.
