“Russian MP Warns Putin: Halt Ukraine Conflict Now”

Date:

Russian opposition MP Vyacheslav Markhayev has issued a stark warning to President Vladimir Putin, urging him to halt the ongoing conflict in Ukraine immediately. Markhayev emphasized that Russia is on the verge of a social crisis and urged Putin and his government to act before the situation spirals into complete chaos. The criticism of Putin comes at a time when Ukraine is gaining ground in the war, causing significant casualties and fuel shortages in Russia.

Markhayev, a former police general, criticized Putin for endangering young Russian men by persisting in the conflict. He highlighted the potential loss of land access to Crimea as Ukraine intensifies its military actions, including deadly drone strikes on highways.

Calling for a clear strategy to end the military operation in line with Russia’s interests, Markhayev stressed the urgent need for action. He warned that the responsibility for the impending social unrest would rest on the current government’s shoulders.

The MP’s remarks were punctuated by the tragic announcement of the death of Alisher Svirin, the first Russian soldier born in 2008, who was just 14 when the conflict began. Markhayev accused Putin of causing internal harm to Russia akin to that of a foreign invader, citing widespread corruption and wealth accumulation among the elite as evidence of failed leadership.

Markhayev further criticized the government for neglecting the needs of ordinary citizens, highlighting the disparity between the rising number of Russian billionaires and the struggling pensioners who allocate a significant portion of their meager allowances to utility bills. He underscored the urgent need for concrete measures to support the populace rather than catering to the affluent elite.

Amid escalating tensions, Markhayev warned of the potential collapse of Russian statehood if the current trajectory continues. He called on the authorities to reassess their approach and address the pressing issues facing the country.

The MP’s statements reflect growing discontent with Putin’s long-standing rule and the perceived disconnect between the government and the populace. As Ukraine intensifies its attacks, the urgency for a resolution to the conflict and a shift in governance becomes increasingly apparent.
