A 12-year-old girl is in critical condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to her head and neck in Canada, according to her mother. Maya Edmonds was one of the individuals injured during a shooting at a school in a remote northern area of British Columbia. Following the tragic event at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, two individuals, including Maya, were airlifted to the hospital due to life-threatening injuries. Maya was transported to Vancouver Children’s Hospital for treatment. Her mother, Cia Edmonds, expressed the sudden turn of events, emphasizing her daughter’s fight for survival after being shot in the head and neck.
In response to the tragedy, Cia’s cousin, Krysta Hunt, initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist Maya’s mother in taking time off work to support her daughter’s recovery process. The community rallied around the family as they hoped for Maya’s healing and progress.
Authorities revealed that the suspected shooter, a woman, was found deceased from a self-inflicted wound.
