A man from Scotland tragically lost his life in a shooting incident on the Caribbean island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The victim, identified as Daniel Vettrino from Dysart in Fife, was fatally shot on Wednesday night. The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) responded to the scene in the Gym Hill area at 11.30 pm, where Mr. Vettrino was pronounced dead.
The 37-year-old’s brother, Robson Vettrino Kolberg, expressed his grief in a heartfelt Facebook post, describing his brother as a kind-hearted person who always aimed for success and happiness for those around him. He highlighted Daniel’s impact on people from Fife to various parts of the world, emphasizing his unique qualities and jovial nature.
The RSVGPF confirmed that Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old technical services manager hailing from Colombia/Scotland, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead by a medical officer. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death as investigations into the incident continue.
The Foreign Office mentioned its assistance to the family of the deceased British national in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The family expressed their deep sorrow and appreciation for the support received, working towards bringing their loved one back home for final farewells.
