“Tragic Discovery: Body of 15-Year-Old Boy Found in Manchester Park Water”

Date:

A young boy’s body was found in a country park located in the northern region of Manchester.

Emergency services responded to an incident at Clifton Country Park in Swinton on Saturday afternoon following reports of a 15-year-old encountering difficulties in the water. Today, search teams discovered a body in the water with the assistance of the North West Under Water Search and Marine Unit.

Although formal identification is pending, Greater Manchester Police have notified the boy’s family of the situation and are providing support through specialized officers. Authorities are cautioning the public to enjoy the upcoming warm weather safely, as high temperatures are expected later in the week.

Detective Inspector Dave Ogden expressed condolences, stating that the incident is tragic and emphasizing the dangers associated with open water. While no foul play is suspected, the incident serves as a poignant reminder of the risks involved with water activities.

In a separate occurrence, the body of another 15-year-old boy was recovered from Cowbury Reservoir in Stalybridge, Tameside, on the same day. Additionally, a 55-year-old woman lost her life after entering a pool at Sandwell Valley Country Park in West Bromwich, West Midlands.

Recent drowning victims include 13-year-old Hayden Jones-Powell from Syston, Leicestershire, 22-year-old Brody Leach from Shrewsbury, and a 15-year-old boy from Testwood Lakes near Southampton.

The Mirror initiated the “Save Lives for Sam” campaign at the start of June to address the alarming rate of child drownings in England. The campaign, supported by various entities, calls for immediate measures to enhance water safety, including mandatory water safety education, a nationwide awareness campaign, improved equipment at high-risk water areas, the implementation of Sam’s Law, and the appointment of a dedicated Minister for Water Safety.
