Police are investigating the potential involvement of a second individual in an active shooter situation at a school, resulting in the death of at least one suspect. An emergency alert was issued by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for residents of Tumbler Ridge and its surrounding areas in British Columbia after reports of an active shooter at a school on Tuesday, February 10, at 3:15 pm. Residents were advised to stay indoors, lock their doors, and avoid leaving their homes or businesses.
The suspect, described as a female with brown hair wearing a dress, was confirmed dead by the RCMP in connection to the shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Staff Sergeant Kris Clark mentioned ongoing efforts to ascertain if a second suspect was involved and determine the total number of victims.
Local news outlet CJDC-TV News reported that all available police officers in the region are en route to Tumbler Ridge.
