“Siberian Tiger Devours Dog in Chinese Village”

Date:

A massive Siberian tiger was found feasting on a dog until only its bones remained, having seized the pet from its owner. Alarming CCTV footage shows the tiger charging through a village near Hunchun in northeastern China during the night.

The video captures the dog persistently barking at the tiger before bravely chasing it down a snowy street. Subsequently, the pet owner is shown tracking the tiger’s footprints in the snow, exclaiming about the animal’s size.

Upon further investigation, the pet owner and villagers discovered only a few pieces of flesh and bone, all that was left of the dog. Despite not returning to the village since the incident, authorities have advised residents to be cautious.

Officials from the Chunhua Town government explained that in winter, wild animals, including tigers, move closer to human settlements due to limited food sources in the mountains. The affected village is situated near a tiger and leopard national park core zone, where conservation efforts have led to a higher population of protected wildlife, increasing the chance of occasional sightings in public areas.

The spokesperson emphasized that scarcity of food in the mountains during winter drives tigers and other animals to seek food in lower areas. While the region is well protected, the presence of more tigers and leopards is noted, with occasional wildlife sightings near roads. Precautionary measures are in place to ensure villagers’ safety and provide compensation in case of animal attacks on pets or livestock.

In a separate incident, a grizzly bear attacked a group of primary school children and teachers in Bella Coola, Canada. Emergency services reported two critically injured individuals, two seriously hurt, and seven others receiving on-site treatment. During the attack, a male teacher bore the brunt of the bear’s aggression, and some children were exposed to bear spray as adults defended against the animal.

Residents were advised to stay indoors while armed officers searched for the bear. As of now, there has been no update on the November 2025 incident.
