“Summer Holiday Prices Up £23 Amid Middle East Crisis”

Date:

Summer holiday prices have increased by an average of just £23 per person following the onset of the Middle East conflict involving Iran, recent research indicates. Concerns arose over elevated jet fuel costs potentially leading to higher expenses for UK travelers seeking a getaway.

Contrary to expectations, data from Travelsupermarket shows that prices for summer trips to various destinations have largely remained stable since the crisis began. The average cost for a seven-night vacation has only seen a modest rise of £23 per person. Nevertheless, specific locations have experienced notable price hikes.

For instance, the cost of a week in Ibiza has gone up from £532 to £540, while Majorca’s price has escalated from £515.62 to £570.26 per person. Conversely, numerous popular spots have witnessed price drops, attributed to reduced demand for certain regions like Turkey or promotional deals offered by travel companies to entice cautious holidaymakers.

Among the destinations with decreased prices, Italy’s Neapolitan Riviera stands out with a £232 reduction to £905 per person. The Dominican Republic follows suit with a £130 decrease to £1,364, and Turkey’s Dalaman area has seen prices fall by £110 to £492 per person, positioning it as an attractive budget-friendly option for summer vacations.

Noteworthy price declines are also seen in mainstream favorites such as Majorca (£86 decrease to £581 per person), Corfu (£83 decrease to £568), and Turkey’s Antalya Area (£90 decrease to £520). Even Spain’s Costa Brava has experienced a drop in prices by an average of £63 to £504.

Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, emphasized that despite ongoing uncertainties, the overall increase in summer holiday prices has been minimal. He advised potential travelers to seize the current competitive pricing environment, especially with numerous destinations offering reduced rates. Booking in advance could be advantageous before any potential price hikes in the future, given the industry’s push for increased bookings and attractive pricing strategies.
