Camping is considered an ideal way to enjoy a staycation, particularly among younger individuals, according to a recent survey.
The survey revealed that seven out of 10 participants expressed a fondness for camping, with this number increasing to 85% among those under the age of 30. The most popular camping destination was identified as the National Trust’s campsite at Great Langdale nestled beneath Langdale Pikes in the Lake District.
Among the 2,000 Britons surveyed, the Great Langdale campsite secured the top spot with 28% of the votes, followed by Watermouth Valley in Devon at 19%, Red Squirrel in Glencoe, Scotland at 18%, and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park at 17%. The Duchess’s Meadow in the Peak District and Cloud Farm in Devon both received 14% of the votes.
Approximately 25% of respondents believe that Britain is the premier location globally for setting up a tent. The main attractions cited for camping in the UK include reconnecting with nature (45%), exploring more of the UK (44%), enjoying quality time with family (37%), and saving money (33%).
Additional draws to camping include escaping from the daily grind (31%), seeking peace and tranquility (29%), relishing the great outdoors (23%), stargazing (21%), and waking up to the melody of birdsong (19%).
George Wallis, representing Isuzu UK, the organization that conducted the survey, commented, “The survey results have showcased some remarkable locations in the UK. Given the stunning natural beauty of the country, it is no wonder that embarking on a trip to a remote area remains timeless.”
