An eat-all-you-can restaurant in Spain has implemented a new policy called a “vomit fee” for customers who overeat and vomit on the premises. Sushi Toro, situated in Gelves near Sevilla, cited an increase in incidents where patrons would consume excessively and then regurgitate, causing disruptions in the dining area and restrooms.
The management of the restaurant expressed concerns about hygiene and customer service due to these incidents. They released a statement on social media addressing the issue, stating that numerous customers were continuously ordering food until they reached their limit and vomited, leading to sanitation issues both at the tables and in the bathrooms.
To address the problem, the restaurant decided to introduce charges for vomiting incidents. Sushi Toro, known for its blend of traditional and innovative cuisine, offers a buffet menu featuring a variety of dishes made with fresh ingredients and specialized culinary techniques. Prices for the buffet range from €16.90 (£14.40) to €23.90 (£20.30), depending on the day and time of dining.
The restaurant’s management emphasized the efforts made by their staff to ensure timely service and maintain high hygiene standards at all times. They advised customers to order only what they can consume and apologized for any inconveniences caused by the new policy.
The popularity of sushi has been on the rise in Spain, with more diners opting for Asian seafood dishes over traditional Spanish fish cuisine.
