“Swiss Chocolate Attraction Set to Expand by 2030”

Date:

For those with a strong affinity for sweets and a childhood filled with the enchanting tale of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, an upcoming attraction might soon become a must-visit destination.

Switzerland has long been a haven for chocolate enthusiasts, with Maison Cailler in Broc, Gruyère, being a popular hotspot. This historic factory has been producing the renowned Cailler chocolate since the late 1800s, standing as one of the world’s oldest operational chocolate manufacturing facilities.

Currently, visitors can explore the factory, partake in guided tours, and engage in a museum displaying the rich history of Cailler. Enthusiasts can even participate in chocolate-making workshops to craft their own delicacies like truffles, with ample opportunities for indulging in tastings throughout the experience.

Exciting developments are on the horizon, aiming to transform the existing 2,000 m2 attraction into a sprawling 30,000m2 complex offering a “memorable sensory journey” through a cocoa exploration park. The expansion is set to immerse visitors in a four to six-hour adventure delving into the world of cocoa.

With around 400,000 annual visitors, Maison Cailler stands as one of Switzerland’s most frequented museums, and projections suggest that the park’s expansion could potentially double this figure in its initial phase.

Future enhancements include a cable car to transport guests from the parking area to the factory, as well as a ‘flying theatre’ offering breathtaking panoramas of the Swiss landscape. Additionally, a large cocoa greenhouse will showcase the cultivation and harvesting processes of chocolate.

And for those seeking even more chocolate-infused excitement, a new hotel will cater to overnight visitors eager to satisfy their sweet cravings. If the initiative progresses as planned, the initial phase is anticipated to launch by 2030.

Accessible by train from Montreux, Maison Cailler offers a themed train ride that traverses picturesque Swiss landscapes, adding an extra touch of delight for chocolate enthusiasts. Travelers from the UK typically opt for a 90-minute flight to Geneva, with various services provided by easyJet, TUI, and British Airways.
