Three teenagers have pleaded not guilty to the murder of 16-year-old Chloe Watson Dransfield just days before her upcoming funeral. Chloe, a resident of West Yorkshire, tragically passed away after sustaining stab wounds on March 28. The accused individuals, identified as Kayla Smith, 18, residing on Kennerleigh Avenue, Archie Rycroft, 19, living on Middleton Park Road, and an unnamed 17-year-old boy, were charged with the murder earlier this year.
The trio appeared at Leeds Crown Court and entered their pleas during the recent court hearing. A trial date has been set for November 10 this year and is anticipated to last up to three weeks. The courtroom faced disruptions during the proceedings, prompting the judge, Recorder of Leeds Judge Guy Kearl KC, to issue warnings and clear the court for proper conduct.
Chloe’s family has announced her funeral arrangements, scheduled to take place at Dewsbury Crematorium on Tuesday, May 5. The family expressed their deep sorrow over Chloe’s untimely passing, describing her as a beloved member who brought joy and happiness to everyone around her. They emphasized their profound loss and everlasting love for Chloe, vowing to cherish her memory always.
