A 19-year-old woman passed away following a dog attack at her residence, suffering severe traumatic injuries, according to an inquest.
Jamie-Lea Biscoe was discovered by her father in an upstairs bedroom at the Leaden Roding, Essex home, as mentioned by court co-ordinator Matthew Austin.
The teenager sustained significant neck injuries during the incident on April 10, believed to be caused by one of the family dogs. A post-mortem examination indicated her cause of death as “neck injuries pending investigation of histology and toxicology.”
Essex senior coroner Lincoln Brookes disclosed receiving a request from Essex Police to halt coronial procedures pending a criminal investigation outcome.
Expressing condolences, Brookes stated, “I offer my deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and loved ones of Jamie-Lea Biscoe on this tragic loss of life.”
Essex Police responded to a call at Long Hide in Leaden Roding at 10:45 pm on April 10, where Ms. Biscoe was pronounced deceased on-site.
A 37-year-old man from Dunmow, arrested on suspicion of being in control of a dangerously aggressive dog causing fatal injuries, has been released on bail until July for further investigations, as confirmed by the authorities.
The dog, identified as a family pet possibly of lurcher crossbreed, was confiscated, and tests are being conducted to confirm its exact breed.
Essex Police previously reported that emergency services were summoned to the location in Long Hide, Leaden Roding, on April 10. Sadly, despite efforts, Jamie-Lea passed away at the scene.
The statement from Essex Police reiterated the arrest of a 37-year-old man from Dunmow, suspected of handling a dog out of control resulting in fatal injuries. The dog, a family pet believed to be a Lurcher Cross, has been seized, with ongoing tests to determine the breed accurately.
