Two teenagers are in critical condition at the hospital after a serious accident. The incident involved a black Ford Fiesta and a silver Toyota Corolla on Saltburn Lane, resulting in six individuals needing medical attention. The road was closed for several hours as emergency responders arrived at the scene on June 6th.
Although two air ambulances were dispatched, all six injured parties were ultimately taken to the hospital by road. The 17-year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta and a rear passenger of the same age sustained life-threatening injuries. Additionally, a 15-year-old boy in the back seat suffered a broken leg, cuts, and shock, while an 18-year-old man in the front passenger seat was treated for cuts and shock.
In contrast, the driver and passenger of the Toyota Corolla sustained minor injuries and shock. Both individuals, a 54-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, were also transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The Great North Air Ambulance Service reported that their critical care team responded promptly to the collision, working alongside other medical personnel to assess and treat the injured parties.
A total of five ambulance crews, including specialized paramedics and clinical team leaders, attended the scene to provide medical assistance. All six patients received initial treatment on-site before being taken to the hospital by road.
