Violations of the hosepipe ban may result in fines of up to £1,000, enforced by water companies. Amid discussions of potential nationalization of Thames Water, the company reports a 10% increase in water usage in Thames Valley and the Home Counties, and 7% in London, attributed to recent heatwaves and the driest spring on record. Nevil Muncaster, Thames Water’s director of strategic water resources, stressed the importance of reducing outdoor water usage to maintain water supply for all, acknowledging customer efforts to conserve water.
