“Tourist’s Car Parks Legally, Gets Fined €29.40”

Date:

A motorist in a popular European tourist destination was outraged by a controversial decision made by parking officials. Stefano Angeloni from Italy shared his frustration on social media after discovering that his legally parked car in Rome had been reclassified for parking violation. The incident occurred when the parking lines around his vehicle were covertly changed from white (indicating free parking) to blue (requiring payment). As a result, Angeloni received a parking fine of €29.40 (£24.91).

The video posted by Angeloni documenting the incident went viral, amassing over a million views and sparking a discussion about the actions of the City Council of Rome. Some online users found humor in the situation, with one suggesting using white paint to create lifetime free parking spaces. Another pointed out that as long as the wheel is on the white line, payment is not necessary. However, opinions were divided, with some describing the situation as “crap.”

Following the unexpected online attention, Angeloni’s daughter clarified on Instagram that her father had inadvertently shared the video and was unaware of its viral reach. It remains uncertain whether Angeloni has challenged the parking fine imposed by the City Council of Rome.
