A young mother is believed to have passed away while giving birth to a baby girl at a residence in Ireland, as indicated by police. Monika Kubasiewicz, aged 33, had recently moved to a home in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, where she tragically died early Friday morning. Her body, along with her newborn daughter’s, was discovered by her partner in the bathroom of their residence at Blackthorn Close, Greenhill Village around 1pm. Authorities suspect the deaths occurred a few hours prior to the discovery.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday on the deceased mother, who was of Polish nationality, with law enforcement reportedly ruling out foul play. Police speculate that the infant passed away during childbirth, pending further investigation following a scheduled post-mortem.
In a statement, Gardai confirmed the incident at the domestic residence in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary, stating that a woman in her 30s and an infant were found deceased at the scene. The area remains secured for examination purposes while awaiting the post-mortem results to guide the investigation.
It was revealed that Ms. Kubasiewicz had relocated to the area with her partner and their two young children, aged four and three, just three months prior, after facing challenges with their shop in Clonmel due to the impact of Covid-19. Following a period in emergency housing, they settled in Carrick-on-Suir. Local officials have urged against speculating on the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
