The family of a missing university student expressed deep sorrow as a body was discovered in water. Connor Calleja, 20, went missing after being turned away from a nightclub in Lincoln on January 11. He was last spotted near University Bridge in Lincoln. Lincolnshire Police announced on Tuesday the recovery of a body in Brayford Pool.
His stepfather, John Lewis, shared their grief while searching for Connor in Lincoln with his wife, mentioning the overwhelming support received from the community on Facebook. Despite their devastation, he expressed gratitude for the kindness shown during this tough period.
In a heartfelt video on Facebook, he urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and emphasized their endless love for Connor. The family had appealed for Connor’s return on social media a day earlier, assuring him of support by depositing money into his account.
Connor’s stepfather recounted that he was out celebrating a friend’s birthday and was denied entry to the nightclub, possibly due to a misunderstanding. Despite not being intoxicated, he was not allowed inside and was later seen near the canal boats.
While awaiting formal identification, the police believe the found body to be that of Connor. The family has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers. Authorities have requested privacy for the family during this challenging time.
