Tragic Stabbing Victim’s Brother Shares Family’s Grief

Date:

The sibling of a woman who was fatally stabbed while lying with her spouse and infant has shared the family’s profound sorrow. Residing thousands of miles away in India, her relatives expressed solace in the vigils held in west London, awaiting the repatriation of Kirandeep Kaur’s remains. The 24-year-old met her tragic end at her residence on Uxbridge Road in Hayes during the early hours of July 12.

From their residence in Punjab, Kirandeep’s elder brother Paljinder Singh, speaking through an interpreter, conveyed how the community coming together in her memory has provided a semblance of solace amidst their mourning. Reflecting on the devastating loss, he lamented, “Had we foreseen the tragedy, we would have never let her depart.”

The family fervently hopes for Kirandeep’s return to India for a final farewell. “Though I will never hear her voice again, I yearn for one last glimpse of her,” Singh expressed. Kirandeep, who had moved to the UK two years earlier for education at Buckinghamshire New University, eventually securing employment at a local grocery store after plans to settle in Canada faltered, had her roots deeply embedded in Tarn Taran, Punjab, with her family never envisioning London as her permanent abode.

Expressing disbelief at her untimely departure, Singh shared, “When she left just two years ago, we never fathomed she wouldn’t return.” He fondly remembered her as a kind-hearted individual who brightened everyone’s day, stressing that life will never be the same post the tragedy, vowing to cherish her memory eternally.

Following her demise, various events including marches and vigils were organized in west London to honor the young graduate and show solidarity with her kin. Despite being physically distanced, Singh acknowledged the overwhelming support from the community, emphasizing the importance of unity in seeking justice and preventing similar tragedies.

In a separate development, Daniel Sean James, a resident of west London, faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and possession of a bladed weapon in connection with Kirandeep’s death. Allegedly assaulting her in her home before fleeing through a window and sustaining injuries, James was apprehended by law enforcement officials shortly afterward. Subsequently, he appeared at the Old Bailey via videolink from Wormwood Scrubs, where Judge Nigel Lickley KC remanded him in custody pending his plea hearing scheduled for October 1.
