A sharp-witted teenager was captured on surveillance footage swiftly intervening to prevent a vehicle from colliding with two women who were trapped inside. Euan Lonnen, 18, noticed the driverless car slowly moving across a parking lot while he was working at a cafe.
Reacting promptly, the teenager chased after the car, initially attempting to turn the steering wheel. When that proved unsuccessful, he entered the vehicle and pulled the handbrake, bringing it to a stop just in time to avoid hitting another parked car.
Describing the incident, Euan stated that he was alerted by a customer about the unmanned car in motion. He made efforts to steer the car towards a safe area, but the steering was locked as the keys had been removed. Eventually, he decided to enter the car and engage the handbrake, narrowly avoiding a collision with the other vehicle.
Fortunately, neither of the passengers sustained injuries, and both cars emerged unscathed from the incident. The heroic act of Euan, who was serving as a supervisor at the Highland Farm Cafe in Dingwall, Scotland, received accolades from amazed customers and coworkers.
Cafe owners Kenneth and Lesley commended Euan for his quick thinking and care for others. They later shared the CCTV footage on social media, garnering thousands of likes and comments. Kenneth emphasized Euan’s dedication to customer safety, highlighting how his actions prevented a potential disaster for the two elderly passengers in the car.
