Eight passengers are still in critical condition in the hospital after a tragic collision involving two trains near Bedford last Friday. British Transport Police reported that 53 passengers are still receiving medical care 72 hours after the incident.

The collision occurred near Bedford around 5:15 pm on Friday, leaving approximately 100 individuals injured. Among them, 11 sustained severe injuries, 32 were seriously hurt, and 57 had minor injuries. Witnesses described a scene of chaos with people crying and screaming, and blood visible in the carriages.
British Transport Police provided an update stating that eight individuals remain critical in the hospital following the train crash near Bedford. Over 100 individuals have received medical treatment, with 53 still hospitalized and eight in critical condition. The numbers are subject to change as the situation evolves.
The deceased train driver was identified as Shaun Burton, and his family paid tribute to him. Investigations into the crash are ongoing, and a temporary road has been constructed to aid in the recovery process.
