Donald Trump is reportedly contemplating the idea of incorporating Venezuela as the 51st state of the United States. The US president discussed this possibility during a conversation with Fox News journalist John Roberts.
This consideration was revealed by Roberts in a tweet after his call with Trump. The president has previously mentioned the potential of Venezuela joining the US, particularly during the 2026 World Baseball Classic events.
Following Venezuela’s victories in the tournament, Trump hinted at statehood for the country through his social media posts. The remarks coincide with increased US engagement in Venezuela post the apprehension of former president Nicolas Maduro.
In response to accusations against Maduro, Trump authorized airstrikes in Venezuela, leading to the capture of Maduro and his spouse. Trump has accused Maduro of various crimes, including alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
Maduro is currently detained in Brooklyn, facing charges related to Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy. Trump’s administration has also expressed intentions to exert control over other territories, such as Greenland and Canada, as part of his second-term agenda.
During his address to Congress, Trump emphasized his pursuit of Greenland and has threatened trade measures against countries opposing his territorial ambitions.
