Donald Trump has expressed his disapproval of Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamanei, who recently succeeded his father. Trump, previously critical of Mojtaba, asserted his desire to play an active role in selecting a new leader for Iran, similar to his involvement in Venezuela after Nicolás Maduro’s capture by US forces. He criticized Iran for appointing Mojtaba, referring to him as a “lightweight” and stating that it was a “waste of time.”
In a recent interview, Trump conveyed his lack of interest in communicating with the new Iranian leader, stating, “I have no message for him. None, whatsoever.” Despite Iran already announcing Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as the successor to his father, Trump indicated that he has a different individual in mind to lead the country.
Trump’s stance on Iran’s leadership selection process has been consistent, emphasizing the importance of choosing a leader who will benefit the people and the nation. He warned that any new leader appointed without his approval would not last long, asserting that they would need approval from the US to survive.
During the interview, Trump hinted that the conflict with Iran may be nearing its end, citing the perceived weakening of Iran’s military capabilities. He claimed that Iran’s military assets, including their navy, communications, air force, and drones, had been significantly diminished due to US military operations targeting Iranian sites.
Initially predicting that the conflict would conclude in about a month, Trump now believes that the situation is progressing ahead of schedule. Despite his optimistic outlook, the Department of Defense expressed a different sentiment, stating that the fight had just begun, prompting reactions from individuals questioning the consistency of Trump’s statements regarding the status of the conflict.
