“Trump Imposes 10% Import Tariff on UK Goods”

Date:

The UK faces a new 10% import tariff imposed by Donald Trump. This tariff will be applied to UK goods following the expiration of temporary levies set by the president after a Supreme Court defeat. According to a US trade representative, the UK, along with 59 other trading partners, is being subjected to these new tariffs for alleged failure to address forced labor issues.

Ranging from 10% to 12.5%, the tariffs target key economic allies such as the UK, EU, Canada, Japan, and India. These tariffs are scheduled to take effect on Friday, July 24. This move is part of an ongoing trade dispute that reignited when Trump began his second term in office.

Following a Supreme Court ruling last year that deemed global tariffs unlawfully imposed, the president has pursued alternative legal routes to advance his trade agenda. This latest development underscores the escalating tensions in international trade relations under the current administration.
