Donald Trump reiterated his support for Israel in a message on Truth Social Saturday night, following reports of Benjamin Netanyahu’s unease over a previous comment made by Trump. The US president, in a post around 9pm ET, hailed Israel as a strong ally of the United States and criticized European nations for not participating in the Iran conflict.
Earlier accounts depicted a concerned Netanyahu who was surprised by Trump’s statement that Israel was not allowed to conduct air strikes in Lebanon. Sources revealed that Netanyahu was personally taken aback and worried upon learning of the message from his aides.
In a statement on Friday, Trump declared, “Israel will no longer bomb Lebanon. They are FORBIDDEN from doing so by the U.S.A. Enough is enough!!!” His subsequent message, however, reaffirmed unwavering American support for Israel.
Trump’s message continued, praising Israel as a loyal and smart ally that fights hard and knows how to win, contrasting them with others who have shown their true colors during conflicts. This all comes after Iran announced the reopening of the strait to commercial vessels following a 10-day truce between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, leading to a drop in oil prices.
Despite this, Trump emphasized that the US blockade of Iran’s ports would persist until an agreement is reached between Tehran and the United States. Following unsuccessful talks in Pakistan, the US president imposed the blockade, resulting in 23 ships being turned back to Iran since the blockade began on Monday, according to US Central Command.
