Donald Trump has stated that he no longer believes in the ceasefire agreement with Iran. The United States conducted strikes on Iran following the revocation of a license allowing the sale of Iranian oil, citing Tehran’s alleged attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran carried out strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait.
During the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump referred to Iran as “scum” and expressed his view that the ceasefire is no longer in effect. He criticized Iran, calling them liars and stating that negotiating with them is a waste of time. Trump also criticized Spain for lack of support in the war against Iran and NATO spending, labeling them a “terrible partner” and suggesting cutting off trade relations with the country.
Following the recent clashes between the US and Iran, oil prices surged while stocks plummeted due to the escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude oil prices rose by 3% to reach around 76 US dollars per barrel. This increase came after a period of declining prices following Trump’s earlier announcement of a ceasefire deal with Iran, which he now claims is no longer valid.
Trump reiterated his strong stance against Iran, labeling the regime as “evil people” and emphasizing the US’s determination not to allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. He denounced Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz and referred to them as “evil sick people.” Despite declaring the end of the interim agreement with Iran, Trump indicated a willingness to continue talks, albeit expressing skepticism about their outcome.
The US military launched attacks on Iran in response to alleged ship attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and the cessation of Iranian oil sales. Iran retaliated by targeting Bahrain and Kuwait, escalating tensions in the region and raising concerns about the viability of the ceasefire agreement. The US Central Command reported strikes on Iranian targets, including air defense systems and Revolutionary Guard boats used to threaten ships in the strait.
