US President Donald Trump chose to go golfing instead of attending a White House-supported faith gathering, as reported. The event, endorsed by Trump, was held on the National Mall on Sunday, May 17, to emphasize the Church’s historical and civic significance in commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary. While thousands of people participated in the event, the president opted to spend the day at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.
The Freedom 250 website characterized the celebration as a significant assembly where Americans from diverse backgrounds united to mark the nation’s 250th birthday with religious activities such as scripture readings, testimonies, prayers, and the recommitment of the country to God as one united nation.
Trump conveyed a message to event attendees through a social media post on Truth Social, expressing his well wishes for those at Rededicate 250. It was noted that Trump was expected to feature in a video message during the event, although reports indicated that he spent a significant portion of the afternoon at his golf club, arriving shortly before 1 pm and departing around 4:20 pm according to White House press pool reports.
This incident is not the first time Trump has chosen to spend his Sundays at golf clubs. According to the tracking website “Did Trump Golf Today,” the president has played golf 106 times out of his first 483 days in office, amounting to approximately 21.9% of his presidency.
In a previous instance, Trump skipped the Easter Service last month to embark on an unusual motorcade tour of D.C., followed by a visit to Trump National Golf Club. Additionally, on the same day, Trump posted a message regarding Iran that contained profanity and praised Allah.
