US President Donald Trump recently made strong remarks, expressing his anger towards Iran following attacks on US bases in the Middle East. In response to missile firings by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Trump stated, “We’re going to beat the f***ing sh** out of them. We’ll be hitting them hard. They’re going to get a beating.”
The IRGC claimed responsibility for targeting a US base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, which were all successfully intercepted by US defenses. This incident occurred shortly after a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump in Washington. The US Central Command (Centcom) confirmed that the attack originated from Iran but was effectively thwarted.
Centcom reported that the IRGC forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempt to surprise US forces in the Middle East. Additionally, a joint US-Saudi attack targeted pro-Iranian militia in Iraq with airstrikes across seven provinces, resulting in casualties. The ongoing conflict indicates a widening of hostilities in the region.
The joint US-Saudi operation aimed at striking “multiple terrorist logistics and weapons sites” in eastern Iraq in retaliation for over 30 drone attacks by “Iran-aligned terrorists” in recent days. The casualties from the attack were believed to be members of the Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Forces, a group with ties to Iran and a history of conflict with US and UK forces.
In a separate development, two Palestinians were reported killed and 29 others injured in Gaza within 24 hours. The escalating violence in the region has led to numerous casualties, with a significant death toll and injuries recorded since the outbreak of conflict in 2023.
