Donald Trump has issued a stern warning regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities in response to criticism from Friedrich Merz, the German Chancellor. Merz accused Iran of humiliating the US by engaging in fruitless peace talks that dragged American envoys to Pakistan.
During a speech in Marsberg, Merz highlighted Iran’s adeptness at avoiding negotiations while letting American representatives travel to Islamabad without any tangible outcomes. He expressed concern over the Iranian leadership, particularly the Revolutionary Guards, causing humiliation to an entire nation and urged for a swift resolution.
Following Merz’s remarks, Trump took to social media, dismissing Merz’s understanding of the situation and cautioning about Iran’s nuclear potential. Trump emphasized that allowing Iran to possess nuclear weapons would endanger the world, contrasting his proactive approach towards Iran with previous administrations’ inaction.
Although Merz permitted the US to utilize the Ramstein air base for coordinating strikes against Iran, he expressed doubts about Trump’s ability to de-escalate the conflict. The situation was further complicated by a leaked memo suggesting the US was exploring ways to penalize NATO allies who did not fully support the war efforts.
